The vision for Strong Foundations grew out of the founders’ many years of experience successfully teaching students to read after they had already experienced years of frustration and failure. It was heart-wrenching to see, and gratifying to help students succeed.

Knowing the same techniques would work with younger children, they were determined to found an elementary public charter school so that children could receive the instruction they needed without experiencing frustration and failure first.

Reading scores in NH have stayed essentially unchanged since 1992 on national standardized testing (NAEP). Strong Foundations proposes to graduate classes in four years that double the current state average of students who score at the proficient level and above on standardized tests of reading.
